Tax connecting people: What Tax Connections Day 2019 participants were talking about

On October 31, in Kyiv, Tax Connections Day 2019 brought together the best experts in the tax field in Ukraine to discuss investment, scaling, business tax burden, 2020 trends, tax reform, TP, tax realities, IT trends, BEPS and MLI in Ukraine. There were the following speakers of the Event, namely, Yaroslav Romanchuk, Attorney-at-law, Managing Partner of EUCON Legal Group, Larysa Vrublevska, Partner, Head of the Transfer Pricing Practice.

Thus, Yaroslav Romanchuk had the speech on “Optimization practice: current trends, schemes, risks” issue, during which he told about three main categories of taxpayers; legal essence and differentiation of concepts (tax evasion, tax avoidance, tax planning, aggressive tax planning); the foreign element in the corporate structuring of business and the benefits of having such a foreign element; the implications of BEPS and whether there is life after the offshore death. The speaker backed the report with current information that corresponds to the tax realities in the country.

Larysa Vrublevska told the audience about “TP and the practice of audits 2018: 5 typical mistakes of taxpayers and places of “clinging” to taxpayers”. Thus, the expert noted the quality criteria of the TP documentation, typical mistakes of the payers, described peculiarities of the choice of pricing method and the reasons for the choice. The speaker provided participants with practical information, disassembling the actual cases within the specified topic.

There were also the following participants of the Event: Mykhailo Polyakov, Co-Chair of the Committee on Taxation of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, Sergii Rogozny, an auditor, IFRS consultant, member of the Board and head of the Finance and Budget Committee of the Federation of Professional Accountants and Auditors of Ukraine, Oleksandra Tomashevska, a tax consultant at the Kyiv Center for Business Support and Development, a specialist in the International Business Activity.
